Safety & Compliance — Our Certifications and Regulatory Standing

At Private Komodo Charter, your safety is the absolute, non-negotiable foundation of everything we do. The breathtaking beauty of Komodo National Park is matched by its wild, untamed nature, including strong currents and remote locations. We have engineered a comprehensive, multi-layered safety and compliance framework that not only meets but often exceeds Indonesian and international maritime standards. This commitment allows our guests to relax and immerse themselves in the experience with complete peace of mind.

Our operations are transparent, fully licensed, and meticulously documented. We invite you to review our credentials and protocols below.

Corporate & Legal Compliance

We operate with full legal standing as a registered Indonesian entity, ensuring accountability and adherence to national laws.

  • Company Registration: We are a fully registered Perseroan Terbatas (PT) company under the laws of the Republic of Indonesia, operating as part of the reputable Juara Holding Group.
  • Tourism Business License (SIUP Pariwisata): We hold a valid tourism business license issued by the Kementerian Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif (Ministry of Tourism), authorizing us to conduct tour and charter operations. Our license number is available for inspection upon request.
  • Tax Compliance (NPWP): We are a registered taxpayer with a Nomor Pokok Wajib Pajak (NPWP) and are fully compliant with all regulations set by the Indonesian Directorate General of Taxes.
  • Employee Welfare & Insurance (BPJS): All our permanent staff and crew are registered under Indonesia’s national social security programs, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (for employment, life, and pension benefits) and BPJS Kesehatan (for health insurance), ensuring their well-being and security.

Maritime Safety & Vessel Certification

Our fleet is maintained to the highest standards of seaworthiness and safety.

  • Vessel Registration & Port Clearance: Every vessel in our fleet is legally registered in Indonesia and undergoes annual inspections. Before every single departure, we obtain a Surat Persetujuan Berlayar (SPB), or Port Clearance Permit, from the KSOP (Harbour Master) in Labuan Bajo, which verifies the vessel’s condition, crew competency, and passenger manifest.
  • SOLAS-Standard Equipment: Our liveaboard phinisis are equipped with safety gear that adheres to the principles of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS). This includes, but is not limited to, SOLAS-grade inflatable life rafts, Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRB), satellite phones, GPS, radar, and comprehensive fire suppression systems.
  • Certified Captain & Crew: Our captains hold, at a minimum, the required Ahli Nautika Tingkat (ANT) or Ahli Teknika Tingkat (ATT) certifications from the Indonesian maritime authority. All crew members are certified in Basic Safety Training (BST), which includes firefighting, personal survival techniques, and first aid.

Operational Safety Protocols

Safety is embedded in our daily operations, from planning to execution.

  • Mandatory Pre-Departure Safety Briefings: No charter departs without a comprehensive safety briefing for all guests, covering the location of life jackets, emergency procedures, and vessel-specific information.
  • Emergency Action Plan (EAP): We have detailed, documented EAPs for all foreseeable scenarios, including medical emergencies, man overboard, and fire. Our crew conducts regular drills to ensure they can execute these plans flawlessly.
  • Medical Preparedness: All vessels are equipped with extensive first-aid kits, medical-grade oxygen, and an AED (Automated External Defibrillator). Our senior crew are trained in advanced first aid and CPR. We have a standing procedure with the Siloam Hospital in Labuan Bajo for emergency medical support and evacuation.
  • Live GPS Tracking: Our operations office in Labuan Bajo monitors every vessel in real-time via a live GPS tracking system, ensuring we know their exact location at all times.
  • Proactive Weather Monitoring: We continuously monitor weather and sea condition reports from the BMKG (Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency). Our captains have the full authority and responsibility to alter any itinerary if conditions are deemed unsafe.

This rigorous approach to safety and compliance is our promise to you. It is the invisible framework that supports every incredible moment of your private Komodo charter.
